Change, Loss, Transition
Change, loss, transition: those words indicate a different direction that where you were going. Last year when my two adult children and I were hiking a trail near the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, I saw a sign that said, “Trail Detour”. It gave a warning that something was about to be different than what was expected. We had to go in a different direction than indicated. Life sometimes gives us the “Trail Detour” sign without warning, and sometimes we get a heads up. Either way it is presented, we can choose to follow the trail in a different direction, or stay stuck at the sign, or try to go back. When we choose to take the trail in a different direction, we may go into the unknown, discovering a different landscape than we expected, finding a courage we never knew we had, and a deepening of our faith that we never imagined. I found myself at the “Trail Detour” sign 17 months ago, when my husband unexpectedly died. Without warning, I was thrown into the despair of loss, grief, and pain. I’m here to tell the story that I am still standing, taking one day at a time, moving forward, in the midst of the sorrow, and finding glimpses of hope. I am grateful, yet grieving, and finding words to describe the process. Join me here to find hope for your journey and help to move forward.
